“When should I change my oil?”
That’s a great question, and like most questions car related our answer is, it depends.
Not very helpful, so here are some things to consider:
1.) How many miles have you driven since your last oil change? Most vehicles need an oil change every 5,000 miles. Check your oil change sticker (the garage you took your vehicle to should have noted your mileage) and see how your current mileage compares.
2.) How long has it been since your last oil change? Generally we would suggest having your oil changed once every six months. Even if you’re not driving a lot, your oil needs to be kept fresh!
3.) What is your current oil level and what does it look like? Check the dipstick, make sure it’s at the right level and it’s color is a nice brown with no metal particles in it.
4.) Finally, check your owners manual and see what the recommendation is for your specific car or truck!
